The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and Other Tales of the American Frontier

This film of six small quirky stories, spliced together as chapters of a book was released by Netflix on November 16, 2018. "Rotten Tomatoes" gave it scored of 92....I
rate it 96....just under "O Brother Where Art Thou?"

Set in the western US after the Civil War the visuals are good, cinemaphy superior....however, it is the musical score that sets it appart.

Anyone familar with Lomax will have a hoot and a hollar with this film's play and humor with traditional tunes.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

With a running time of 133 it held my attention for 50 minutes ...which is double by usual tube distance. I will finish it another day.

Really enjoyed it, on many levels. Tom Waits excellent in it.

I caught it on Netflix a couple of days ago - great fun and sad in equal parts.

The six segments are ironic/quirky takes on conventional "western" themes - the singing cowboy, the last-minute saving from hanging, the wagon train, the gold prospector, the passengers in a stagecoach, etc. And Tom Waits is indeed excellent.

Well worth seeing.

Longing to see this when it escapes from Netflix. It looks brilliant.
