Tech: Loose USB ports

Given that my Windows 10 laptop is over 4 (maybe even 5?) years old, and that I move it around a good deal, unplugging/re-plugging a lot, I guess it was inevitably going to happen sooner or later.

A cursory search, suggests solutions such as Fix Your Loose USB Ports with This Little Trick. It seems to make sense, but does it, or do you have any better solutions?

Grateful for any thoughts.

Many thanks,

Ed

My 8 year old laptop has a known production issue,
a red lead coming loose from a USB Port..
The repair video is enough to make me take absolutely obsessive caution
mollycoddling it when I need to plug and unplug accessories...

Can't just pop the port out of a simple side panel.
The whole laptop needs to be completely disassembled
just to access the back of the ports...

Oddly, the designers made Hard drive and ram swapping extra easy and accessable...???

..oops.. typed too hastily,,

Actually it's the recharge power socket...

The serious USB problem is with my Korg controller keyboard.
Apparently that's a potential write off if the USB port goes...

And is it possible to repair a loose Recharge port ?

Yeah - everything I wrote about USB ports
in reality applies to the power/battery recharge socket of this laptop..

For a few moments my memory was confused between the Fujitsu laptop and Korg keyboard

It demands a total taking apart, and resoldering job..

The rear of the socket is completely inaccesible from it's own side of the chassis...
