I saw Dr. John in the early 1970's at the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada --and it was one of the finest concerts I ever saw. After doing his vooddo shtick for most of it, he was called back for an encore, and his encore was his whole new album---Dr. John's Gumbo---which was his tribute to the great jazz and r'n b' artists of New Orleans. Wow!

Here is an obituary. He died of a heart attack at age 77.

Absolutely one of my favourite artists. Especially his 'Creole Moon' CD.
