I'm wondering what are the lyrics to this theme, and where they came from. I know, of course, that Tchaikovsky was Russian, but it's a fragment of German lyrics that comes to my mind:
Googling isn't helping me. Can somebody give me lyrics for this beautiful theme? Thanks. Instrumental recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cNQFB0TDfY |

I'd like to see them and an English translation, too. (Of course that video led me down the rabbit hole to a finale which uses the same theme. This finale uses a happy ending to the ballet. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SXJawzOLS3k#fauxfullscreen And then I watched a 10-minute clip of the prince, courtiers, and the Black Swan ending with what are quite literally her star turns. I'll leave that for anyone interested to find on their own.) |
