I am very sorry to hear this. Loved his TV show. His book, Cultural Amnesia, was a compelling read.

I'm with you there , G-Force. Interesting, IMO, lyrics for Pete Atkins. RIP Mr. James Mind you, he once got to swim with The Playboy Bunnies ! ;-]

Yes, a sad loss, but a life well lived. I don’t suppose the obituaries will mention his contribution to the Folk song catalogue in the 60s and 70s, although his New Year TV reviews of the year in the 80s set the standard for razor sharp satirical nostalgia, now widely copied by other presenters.

Heard Pete Atkin way back when at Edinburgh.   His melody and performances of Clive James Lyrics. Saw Clive and Pete together another time. Very sad loss.

Very sorry to hear about Clive James' passing. I always liked this :

I'll also remember his humour for "Oedipus Bruce", and "A Letter To An Australian Tax Collector" - sheer brilliance.
He will be missed. RIP.

ABC News article in Oz:

Clive James — writer, TV broadcaster and critic — dies aged 80

An ABC correspondent in Britain referred to Clive James as a polymath. I had to look it up, but yes, he was a master of many talents.
