For more information on the relationship between the two gentlemen I'd recommend Timothy Neat's two-volume 'Hamish Henderson: A Biography' - which includes an excerpt from a letter that McColl wrote to Henderson in 1951, on the subject of Alan Lomax's visit to Scotland and suggesting that Henderson ought to assist Lomax in his activities there. |

These are available from Veteran. Here you can hear just how easily he got on with these singers and storytellers. Talk about the right man being in the right place at the right time. |
