It'll be on from Maundy Thursday 9th April until Tuesday 14th April 2020

It’s set up just like a folk festival but without any concerts or stuff you have to pay for.

Also ‘cause everything’s on site, there’s no need to wander the streets looking for a session.

The Sportsman’s is a venue which can offer up to 3 separate rooms/ areas for different sorts of seshes – singarounds, folk club, mad Irish diddly thrash, seriously non-smiling English music, challenging French tunes, Old Timey/ Bluegrass, maudlin unaccompanied dirges, etc

[Please note that this event is not a Folk Festival.

There are no paid acts.

All music & song is unamplified & purely acoustic]

All welcome - come on down - it'll be brill!!

The campsite will be available from Thursday 9th April until Tuesday 14th April 2020

It’s a DIY do- bring yourselves, voices, instruments ,your tents, vans, caravans & kitchen sink!

It's all FREE!!

Streetmap of the pub a bit more accurate than a rural post code, but it looks pretty sparse so the pub should be obvious.

or if you like What3Words - ///vacancies.waiters.haunts for the satellite map

FWIW it looks like there was an OS Bench Mark on the East corner (nearest road) facing the car park. But don't try looking, it has gone. Though You will be 453 M ASL (1486 ft) - pretty elevated. Have a high old time.

Oh! This looks good. We are in Shropshire now. Can a disabled person reserve a hard standing pitch for small caravan near the pub?

50 years ago, I worked in a gang of three blokes, putting the cats-eyes in that road. We stayed in Ruthin for the first stretch, and then moved to Ysbyty Ifan for the second stretch. Sportsman's Arms wasn't in use at that time, we used to drink in the Y Giler Arms.

Virginia Tam,

I' m also disabled with mobility issues & need to use a rollator for walking more than a few yards.

You'll find if you come early Thursday, there should be plenty spaces on the hard standing near the pub

CAMPING INFORMATION 2020:

Please take all your rubbish away with you. This is mainly because we are only allowed one rubbish bin and we are unable to make a disposal point as the winds can be very strong up here and rubbish gets blown around everywhere.

The doors to the rear of the pub will be be left open at night for those who are camping to use the loos.

The blue stuff....Not sure what it's called but please can those wanting to dispose of toilet waste please not use the blue stuff. We have a septic tank so the organic stuff only please.

Thankyou

IMPORTANT - EVENT CANCELLED!!

I’ve just heard from Leon, landlord at the Sportsman’s, who agrees with me and general consensus that because of prevailing conditions, the event should be cancelled for the wellbeing and safety of everyone.

Regrettable but necessary.

Hopefully we can re-schedule the gathering as soon as safe to do so.

Sincerely,

John Steward
