There are few artists with more claim to being a ‘musician’s musician’ than Wizz Jones. Inspired by Big Bill Broonzy, Rambling Jack Elliot, Alexis Korner, and Ewan MacColl, learning his craft from the likes of Davy Graham and Long John Baldry in the coffee bars of London’s Soho during the late fifties, busking through Europe with Rod Stewart and cited by John Renbourn and Eric Clapton as an important early influence.

With his unique acoustic guitar style, an eclectic repertoire and a ‘right hand worthy of Broonzy’ Wizz continues to tour on the acoustic folk and blues circuit. We're very pleased to be welcoming Wizz back to the Goose again.

Alfie Jones is a fantastic up-and-coming guitarist and singer and also Wizz's grandson. Alfie will play the support slot after the interval and then join Wizz on stage for the second half.

Zach Johnson is an indie/folk singer/songwriter from South-East England, writing lyrically-driven songs that feature his intricate guitar playing and powerful vocals. He has been touring extensively for the last four years, performing all over the country to great response.

Wizz, once the archetypal Cornwall busking hippie, came to our folk club regularly in the 90s, maybe before that as well, at the Tree Inn in Bude. He's amazing, jackknifed over his guitar, as good as it gets. The last time I went to see him, I spent half of the evening in the nearby hospital as a huge nurse lowered over me in order to remove a foreign object from my eye. God, that hurt. Fortunately, she succeeded and I got back in time for Wizz's set. I wouldn't want him to think that I remember him for all the wrong reasons!

Due to the current situation with the coronavirus, we have reluctantly decided to postpone this concert to a future date as yet to be decided.

If you have already bought tickets and wish to hold onto your tickets until the new date, that’s great, but you are welcome to a refund now if you prefer (or later on if you can’t make the new date once it has been confirmed).

You will be contacted by either WeGotTickets (if you bought advance tickets online) or by The Ivy House (if you bought advance tickets from The Ivy House bar).

We are very sorry for any inconvenience and/or disappointment caused, but we hope you understand that we would hate to be responsible for any of our audience becoming ill.
