Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie Daniels has died at 83

CNN article

I was a fan during the early 70s, when his music had a bit of a leftward hippie slant. Then he took a radical political and philosophical turn to the right and lost me.

The death of Daniels came as a shock to me. Despite some of his extremely political songs (a trend that was sadly popular in country music at that time), I find most of his music quite enjoyable.

I heard this on the news this evening; with so much going on it's a shame that this big name kind of got lost in the dust.

I actually saw Mr. Daniels at The Grand Ole Opry on 9/11 2018. He was still blazin' away on his big hit!
RIP Mr. D

"Uneasy Rider" struck a chord with me, a long haired drug enthusiast who used to hitch and drive around the south and the west.
I remember reading somewhere that he was Dylan's favorite guitar player so that raised him up a notch or two in my estimation.

Exactly, Mrrzy!
"Uneasy Rider," with its name-dropping of Mario Andretti
AND the John Birch Society
(guess that was his future political orientation peeking out)
was wonderfully witty fare
for AM radio back in the day.

That's what I remember Charlie Daniels for,
rather than the devil, Johnny, and a fiddle in Georgia.
