Grandpa Jones did a version which was somewhat different ~~ haven't heard it since the early 50s or so. If memory serves, it went something like this.
On Monday we have bread and gravy Whatever else there may have been to his version, I've forgotten. Something like: Now everyone's working at our house, but you can't count the money we make . . .

They have to be special ordered from Germany so there will be a six to eight week delay in filling orders for these. Credit card orders will not be charged until we receive the merchandise. All these albums are limited pressings and once stock is exhausted they will probably not be repressed. Order early for best fill and, if possible, list some alternates. Smokey has been a favorite in northern new England for decades; he sang on stage at the Opry, and founded my favorite bluegrass festival in Schuylerville, NY. He is a depository of forgotten old songs, and he is still recording--Pinecastle just put out his first CD. |

They would have a stew pot on the stove and throw in whatever they could scrounge up. This was during WWII and the father was either disabled or had already passed away. So those were tough times. |
