From: matthewdechant Hear me out- I think Cage the Elephant's Ain't No Rest For The Wicked (for those who haven't heard it ) would make a great folk song. In the style of Johnny Cash or Marty Robbins, it would be a great inversion of the traditional murderballad tropes, the same themes but coming from the (would-be) victim's perspective. If you can get past the slightly campy music video and mid-2000s alt rock sound, it really has surprisingly good lyricism and storytelling. I may have to make this a reality, who knows... |
