09 Nov 20 - 05:27 AM (#4078867) Subject: RE: Graeme Miles BBC radio4 From: GUEST,Jim Bainbridge Yes, rarely is such a 'folk' songwriter given such a platform by the main media. I'm not a fan of the Young 'uns harmony singing, but their approach was sensitive and well handled- well done. One thought- Graeme Miles was a fine man & a great writer, but wouldn't it be good if such recognition were given to influential people like him BEFORE they die? |
09 Nov 20 - 03:28 PM (#4078941) Subject: RE: Graeme Miles BBC radio4 From: GUEST,JHW Maybe it was. We had a grand do at some Buffs sort of Club on the high esplanade at Saltburn. Graeme was awarded the EFDSS Gold Badge. A bit like a wake but Graeme was there. |

09 Nov 20 - 06:51 PM (#4078964) Subject: RE: Graeme Miles BBC radio4 From: The Sandman I am a fan of the young uns harmony singing. The Wilson Family recorded Horumarye in (1983), the first complete album of songs released by any folk artist, dedicated solely to the songwriting of Teesside songwriter, Graeme Miles,37 YEARS AGO.30 YEARS before he died Martyn Wyndham-Read sang Where Ravens Feed as the title track of his 2001 Fellside CD of songs of Graeme Miles. Graeme died in 2013. I second Clives remark.. Immensely enjoyable |

15 Nov 20 - 07:39 AM (#4079705) Subject: RE: Graeme Miles BBC radio4 From: Vic Smith A well balanced enjoyable programme. I thought the enthusiam of the Young'Uns for GM's songscame over well. I liked their harmony singing from the first time that I heard it and I wrote an article in them in fRoots 371 May 2014. |
