I had my first Covid vaccine jab on Friday. One more in three weeks, and I'm a free man in one month.

So here's a song I made today, to share my jubilation. It's been a long year.

The Jab Song - I've had the Jab

Life has felt a little drab
Living like a hermit crab.
Even going to the pub
Maybe meant lying on a slab.

I'm so happy I can say

Or in the case of where I live, people over 80. Harlow has particularly bad Covid statistics, which may perhaps have got us some priority.

Don't you believe it, punk. This government messes everything up alright, before making a u-turn, but getting in the way of the vaccine's rolling out would be like standing in the path of a steamroller.

It's good to encourage people to get vaccinated, but sad to say the shots won't mean you are 100% protected. You will still need to be careful. I'm not going to say how; I leave that to the experts.

From what they say there's something like 94% protection, and that'll be good enough for me, a lot better than I'd hoped for. Nothing in life is 100%.

I'll be sticking with the mask and the distancing and so forth, but in my mind I'll be doing it to protect other.

And now I've had my second jab, on Friday. Which puts me ahead of President Biden, who gets his tomorrow. And the Pope only gets his first later this week.

Though my idea, when I had my first jab, that come Friday, when with the necessary seven days after the jab are through, and it's my Liberation Day, I'd mark it by going down the pub, are stymied, since by now all the pubs are shut down.
