A sensible approach to a problem that remains too dificult to predict:-

Sidmouth Folk Festival 2021 Update

As the snow begins to melt and the snowdrops begin to bloom, we hope that this long, dark winter will be over for us all soon, and that you are finding joy in the thought of summer sun, blue skies and music making.

There is lots of promise in the air, including the encouraging news on the vaccination roll-out. Hopefully everything is starting to finally herald the light at the end of a very long tunnel.

As things stand currently, there is still much uncertainty about what will be viable in terms of any remaining restrictions and guidelines and indeed, what will be attractive to our loyal audiences and participants. With that in mind, we are preparing for all eventualities and will not announce any final plans for The Sidmouth Folk Festival 2021 until early April.

Rest assured, however, we will do our very best to offer you the finest possible Sidmouth Folk Festival experience and we cannot wait for you to join us beside the sea!

Thanks, I was just wondering tonight - though dreading the M5. No jab against sudden scary halts.

The email gave details of other online events happening before the usual festival dates: I am looking forward to the workshops with Nick and Mary Barber which take place next weekend: this would normally be "Reunion weekend" for those that go down mid-year either from the Middle bar Singers, the Radway players or the cricket club crowd.
Our journey down includes the dreaded M6 and M74 as well as the M5!

A favourite haunt was the 'Middle Bar' in the semi cellar. More room upstairs but (pre covid) maybe too much. Also noise from outside with windows open.
