12 Jan 00 - 12:30 PM (#161703) Subject: RE: Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Marymac90 I tried to get on Mudcat a little earlier today, and got some kind of message that lead me to believe that Mudcat was off line for a little bit, since it didn't seem to be my computer, or AOL. I missed it (sigh). It inspired me to wax poetic. I changed the words to a song that's been stored in the back of my brain for a l o n g time-"We Love You, Beatles" We love you, Mudcat, oh yes we do We love you, Mudcat, and we'll be true When we can't get you, we're blue Oh, Mudcat, we love you! 12 Jan 00 - 06:02 PM (#161837) Subject: RE: Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Marymac90 I guess my little ditty IS to the same tune as "We love you, Conrad". I just knew it better as "We love you Beatles". (I was VERY into the Beatles when I was 14-15.) If you want it for the Mudcat songbook, you've got it! As long as I don't have to copyright it, or write out the notes, or anything else that sounds too much like work! If you want to write any more verses, feel free! Yours, creatively, Mary McCaffrey

13 Jan 00 - 07:31 PM (#162424) Subject: RE: Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: The Shambles Better To Fail Don't just say, "oh it would be good". "Yes, but, well, if only we could". Just grab the bull by the horns, Are you just going to sit there and dream? Don't worry the children might do, They're more ready for adventure than you. Stand up proud, don't try to hide, Say it loud, don't keep it inside. It's better to fail, than to never have tried, It's better to fail, than to never have tried, How will you ever know, If your talent might grow? If you don't water the flower it dies Open the cage and see the bird fly. So come on, what's your excuse, What do you really, really, have to lose? If you make a small sacrifice, You may find it's well worth the price? Stand up proud, don't try to hide, Say it loud, don't keep it inside. It's better to fail, than to never have tried, It's better to fail, than to never have tried, Well you don't have to try to be the same, I know it's hard, not to play that game. But we are all different it's true, It's only you can do the things you do. Stand up proud, don't try to hide, Say it loud, don't keep it inside. It's better to fail, than to never have tried, It's better to fail, than to never have tried, Roger Gall 1996. |

16 Jan 00 - 10:49 AM (#163827) Subject: RE: Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: The Shambles As for bigots: SONG WARNING-SONG WARNING.
This one is down to my Geography teacher and it was just about the only constructive thing I remember learning there. He told me that the phrase, 'present company excepted', was the last refuge of the bigot. It enabled the bigotr to give full rent to her prejudice, whist seeming to excuse the individuals present, from it. Sorry about that.... I was only teasing. I was going to say 'he', and 'his' but stopped and went to put 'them and 'their', but then I just couldn't resist it. Would anyone have picked me up for saying 'he' and 'his', in this context, I wonder, or are all bigots male? Just to add yet another subject to this thread.
Present company excepted, they're robbing us blind,
Present company excepted, they've got it laid on a plate,
Present company excepted; do they really believe it? Roger Gall 1997 |

There, is that perfectly clear now? And you're more than welcome! -- Áine |

16 Jan 00 - 06:29 PM (#163977) Subject: RE: Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Áine From our own Metchosin comes the latest addition to the Mudcat Songbook. 'A Run For Home' is a work in progress; but the rumour is that it will be available sometime this year on CD! Good luck, Metchosin! Metchosin's brother has written music for this beautiful and moving song, and Metchosin needs some help in figuring out how to get into a format for the computer. All you 'Catters that have sound file expertise get in touch with her (on this thread is fine) and let's work this out so we can hear this song in its entirety very, very soon! -- Áine (The Keeper of the Book) P.S.
