Sunday breakfast listening today is Flossie Malavialle, who we saw in 2016 - what a wonderful performance it was. Amazingly, her first language is French, she sings in a non regional English accent, but talks in pure Geordie!!!

She is a great singer and a wonderful entertainer - she was planning to take a sabbatical for w while but great if she is performing again.

Flossie is still living in France, and hasn’t returned to performing - she is working in what we would regard as an ‘ordinary’ job.

Bonzo, she lived in Darlington an worked at Stockton, when i heard her i would have described her accent as teeside not geordie.
TEESIDE is different from geordie just as croydon is different from southend

Croydon is hideous and unlike any other accent imaginable, very different as you say from Southend.

I think her accent could be described as a mixture of County Durham and a hint of French.

County Durham, Teesside and Geordie all different. (I live nr Teesside Airport now but worked in Co.Durham).
Co.Durham + French probably right - but where in France?

If you mean where she's from, it's South.

Marseille I think! Flossie took a lot of her English accent from Vin Garbutt and his mannerisms ~ Vin was a brilliant entertainer/ singer with his own opinions on many things; comedic sometimes ~ from Tees side and probably Guisborough ~ it is in Yorkshire historically though some other made up name now!

Flossie definitely came from Nimes. She told me in Doncaster as we both had some disgusting coffee at a venue she played. m
