Folkies on Film is a 30-minute presentation which takes a look through the (mostly) hidden history of your favourite folk stars' early (and not so early) appearances in TV shows and movies. (Think of it as sort of 'Where's Wally?' for folkies.) Aside from an utterly kick-ass theme tune specially recorded for us by David Delarre, this video contains footage of Jon Boden playing fiddle while dressed as a leprechaun, Ewan MacColl breaking every rule of acting (both known and unknown) and Tony Robinson harmonising with Tony Rose. I think the song is "Wild Rose." Maybe I missed it but I could not see where the name of the female singer is mentioned. If someone knows who she is, please post her name. I just didn't recognize her and have never seen any of these folkies on film here in USA before. Thank you. |

Lin - the singer is Jessie Buckley, who came second in a British reality TV show to find the next Nancy for a West End production of Oliver! At that time the band included Martin Hall, formerly with Jolly Jack, on accordion. |

I went to school with his wife, Veronica, and we are still friends. There're also plenty of Kris Kristofferson movies to make up his own clip. And I mentioned in the Comments below Part 1 about Australia's (uncredited?) Declan Affley & the Wild Colonials, (best Bush/Irish band in Oz at the time), who appeared performing in Tony Richardson's 1970 film of "Ned Kelly" (just one of many made over the years!) Also had that Mick Jagger bloke in it, but don't let that put you off :) Critics weren't particularly kind, but my problem with the film was American Country Music's Waylon Jennings singing Shel Silverstein songs for the soundtrack : STREWTH DOREEN!!
