For those of you who are UK festival goers Moira Furnace Folk Festival will be going ahead full steam this year; Friday August 19th - Sunday August 21st with a great guest line up and loads of singarounds on site and at the pubs. Plus of course the Saturday tea time MUDGATHER hosted by MY GURU ALWAYS SAYS.

Thanks R - forgot about doing that bit as it's a long time since I posted on here.

I am not going to Moira this year as we have other commitments. My daughter in law is though and, as I just commented on my Mudcat t-shirts thread, I can send a dark blue Mudcat t-shirt, size XL, to Moira with her if anyone wants it. Used but good condition and doesn't smell of Gnomes :-D

Whoops. Looks like DIL is not going after all so not an option. Sorry :-( At least it refreshed the thread :-)

That's a timely refresh as it's now only two weeks away.

Really looking forward to this! Just got my B&B sorted as Richard isn't well enough to accompany me with the caravan.

So, MudGather - who's coming???

I heard that the organisation of Stewarding duties was bad this year :-( Anyone know what has changed?

We've got a new team in as the person who used to do it has health issues and has had to step down.

We had a new team who have taken over and have experience at other festivals and got a lot of organisation done very quickly, but only had limited time to sort things - I also know that some stewards didn't show. I'm sure with this year's experience it will be sorted for 23.

The comments on the feedback forms will be carefully read and notice taken. If you want to PM me any particular issues I'll raise them when we have the "wash up" meeting.

Thanks Acord4 - I can pass on what the issue was to my friends. They mentioned when registering as Stewards, as in prior years, that there were specific things they would like to do or avoid, which was ignored. When they brought this up they were basically told 'tough shit'. Little wonder that some did not show at all! My friends were made of tougher stuff though :-) and managed to do a bit of swapping to get to see the specific act they were looking forward to. They were also woken at 8am one day for stewarding when they should not have been on duty at all. Not bad normally but seeing as they had been in the bar until one AM expecting a lie-in it was a shock! :-(

Main thing is, if you want constructive feedback, is that the Stewards are volunteers and did not appreciate being treated in a belligerent and officious manner. I am sure you will get it sorted for next time but it may be too late for some ex-Stewards

OK thanks - we'll look into those points. I think perhaps due to the last minute swap some of the info people had given to the previous stewards organisers wasn't passed on to the new ones. This is just guessing but will pas that on at the meeting.

We had a lovely MudGather at the Moira Furnace Folk Festival (UK) on Saturday, very well attended with great Songs and Chocolate of course.

Hopefully we will be able to revive MudGathers at UK Festivals, do let me know if you know any Festivals that might be interested in hosting one.

Many thanks to everyone who came along!

Great turnout - it's been an annual feature for many years and hopefully will continue to be. Good for The Railway Inn as well who have always gone out of their way to be helpful.
