Just boarded the ferry home after our second attendance at incredible weekend of the best sea music and shanty singing one is ever likely to hear in one place, in one weekend on the 'emerald isle'. Jim Mageean, Pat Sheridan, Steve Turner, Tom Perry & Clive Brooks, Gemma Khawaga, Andy Kenna, Sheila Park, Dave Morton & Tom Patterson, Matt Crannitch & Jacky Daley, Chris Wilson & Anne Alderson, Merfolk, Dick Miles, Martyn Wyndham Read, Doon Road, Impressed, Cork Singers' Club, Jesse & Conor Anthony and Andy Mackay and Carole Etherton - oh, and did I mention 'Yours Truly?', all topped off with an amazing survivors' session in The Irish Whip pub with the Irish Whip Scroacht Group! Special mention must be made of the mighty Dick Miles for putting it on and of Helmsman - Andy Kenna for glueing it all together in his own inimitable style!
The event?: The Fastnet Maritime & Folk Festival - Ballydehob, County Cork. Be there next year (if you weren't this...:-)). Lastly but not leastly (is that a word?), our thanks and undyin gratitude to Kathleen and John Sullivan for amazing breakfasts, and general billeting - exemplary! All in all, Fantastic!
Keith & Sylvia xx

Andy Kenna was a teacher when my kids were at school. Only found he played concertina and sang when he came to our folk club.

From Martyn Wyndham ReaD
Martyn wanted me to pass on a message to friends and singers he was with last weekend.
It is now just over a week that I was at the Fastnet Maritime and Folk Festival in the South West of Ireland and I am still wallowing in the joy of being there. The music, company and location, Ballydehob, were wonderful and I deeply thank Dick Miles and all the organisers for inviting me, the memory of being there will stay with me.
I have been regaling Danni for many hours of this wonderful experience.
Love to you all Martyn and Danni
