Recordings Reviews?

I've long enjoyed reading the reviews of recordings on the Musical Traditions Internet Magazine site; however, their reviews have become increasingly fewer and farther between, these last few years. Anyone have any other favoured sites that offer reviews of trad material?

I regularly review traditional and trad-adjacent recordings at Rambles.Net.

The most recent is on the other side of the above URL.

I use the Recordings section of the Session to get info on new and older trad recordings (predominantly tunes from the U.K. and Ireland but also tunes from the Continent and other locales). Not professional reviews but I find the comments of the members to be very helpful.

Thanks, gents, those look promising.

The reviews on Mustrad are mainly for albums of traditional singers, and there haven't been many of these produced lately. If you know of any I'm sure Rod would be happy to accept a review. Reinhard may have a comment on this. It would be nice to start adding reviews to 'Mainly Norfolk'.

Steve - is Rod still having a input into Mustrad? Isn't Mossy Cnristian the man now or is that just for album releases?

I like Folk Radio which can be found at folkradio.co.uk

(Blue clicky maker ain't working.)

Great reviews and links. Free "Mixtapes" not as frequent as they once were (there is subscription service for those with a few qiid to spare) but still worth looking out for.

Great photographs, too.

I think reviews are not as useful as live samples, imo it is better to let listeners have a sample audio and let them make up their own minds.

Tradfolk has reviews (though not as many as it used to). Still plenty to read.

Also Bright Young Folk:

'Course, there's always Folk London mag, which features reviews.

A snip at only 3 quid an issue or £1.50 for a PDF
