I read yesterday that Denny Laine, founder of The Moody Blues, has died.

Denny Laine

I know he played with Paul McCartney's Wings too, but geez....The Moody Blues. 'Nights in White Satin' is a classic.

As far as I know, he didn't sing on Nights In White Satin, as he'd left the band. He did sing on Go Now, an iconic sixties song.

Justin Hayward was the vocalist on Nights in White Satin, Denny left the Moody Blues some time before that recording.

I saw the Moody Blues, with Denny fronting the band, at Scunthorpe Baths Hall on 30th April, 1966. They were sensational, the loudest band I’d heard at that time, and musically excellent, but they were very different to the band they became in the Hayward/Lodge era. They did ‘Go Now’ twice - once in each set. Denny Laine was a great front-man, as good as any I’d seen.

RIP Denny.
