I have seen it reported (but no details) that Bob Johnson, formerly of Steeleye Span, died yesterday.

I was in my late teens when "Below the Salt" and "Parcel of Rogues" came out. The sound enthralled and captivated me and Bob Johnson's guitar and arrangements were certainly a large part of it. I quite liked "The King of Elfland's Daughter", also.
I guess it's par for the course to say that someone is "underrated", but I really thought that this was the case with Bob Johnson's guitar work.
Anyway, many thanks for all the pleasure and inspiration.

The latest Steelye tour and album is named for Bob's original song "The Green Man" and Maddie mentioned him a few times at the concert I saw in Ilkley. I wonder if the band knew he was on his way out?

Condolonces to his family and loved ones. The world is certainly a poorer place without talent like his

I met him once in th 80's when my band opened for Steeleye Span. He let me use his amp and effects to appease the sound crew and save stage space. A really nice bloke.

RIP.
