I was always impressed by his easy way with his audience, allied to his huge knowledge. He was a great correspondent with the late Ted & Ivy Poole of Swindon, who had a collection of his broadsides & his daily thoughts on events. I remember he used to perform at the Unity Theatre back in the 60’s together with Kit and Ronnie Baugh. Dan Butler another friend reminds me of John whenever we meet, we sing one of his favourite songs ‘If wasn’t for the houses in between’ He was a ‘one off’ and a legend in his lifetime. My condolences to all his family and many friends. RIP John |

A lovely man, and still very fond of Rita even after being divorced for many years. |
