Oh the irony!!

Actually my parents were in the Iron and Steel Industry, my Mum took in ironing and my Dad went out stealing.

Although I am Scottish, I think my friend and I spent the evening more profitably playing a few tunes together. Checked into the scores couple of times 0-0 most of the way through until that final Hungarian kick!
Disappointed with my country’s showing in all 3 matches.

Scotland are a poor team. They tried their hardest but were simply not good enough. I heard on the radio yesterday that they only had a total of 3 shots on target in all 3 games.

On another day they might have been awarded a penalty.

Better luck next time.

i thought scotland hungary were equally mediocre, so one all draw imo would have been apt, it was certainly a penalty

Both Irish teams and Wales have done really well at tournaments over the years, and their leagues are not as strong as the Scottish league. They all have some good players bu appart from Gareth Bale no-one world class. So I was hoping and expecting Scotland to do better this time. We had Norwiches goalkeeper and centre half, Watfords center half, a CH playing in S Arabia, Southamptons centre forward - not bad players but not good enough for the Premier League. But that is what Wales and the Irish teams have been excelling with for a long time.

I think the managers tactice were very poor, why did he bring Morgan (a mand who has been out injured a long time up untill recently) on as a substitute when Forrest ( a player who has scored 106 goals for Celtic) was sitting there, and why play Kenny McClean at LB late on, he plays midfield for Norwhich. I think with we could have beaten Hungry 2-0 or similar.

There's a nice joke going round:

Gareth Southgate (in an Eric Morecambe voice): 'Listen, Sunshine. I'm picking all the right players. But not necessarily in the right positions.'

If Gareth Southgate picks his best team, instead of his pals, England might just stand a chance.

England were playing so badly on Sunday, I was beginning to think they must have forgotten to apply for postal votes.

I hadn't been following, but just noticed that the Canadian team beat Venezuela in some 'Americas' competition. Not long ago, that would have been unthinkable. I was there about twenty-five years ago when Canada played the second-string Australian team to a tie, and Canadian soccer/football fans were ecstatic. Give us another twenty-five years or so, and - look out world!

I believe that's the Copa America you're talking about,
and the US got eliminated from it this past week -- too bad.

And a little embarrassing since the US is going to be
one of the World Cup hosts next time.
