04 Sep 24 - 03:29 PM (#4207934) Subject: Tech: mudcat.org certificate expired From: MudGuard Today the mudcat.org security certificate has expired and needs to be renewed! Andreas a/k/a MudGuard |
04 Sep 24 - 04:13 PM (#4207935) Subject: RE: Tech: mudcat.org certificate expired From: Joe Offer I've reported it to Max. It's still the same Mudcat, so it's quite safe to bypass the warnings your browser gives you. I'm sure he'll fix it soon. On Google Chrome, click the "advanced" button to bypass the warning. |
05 Sep 24 - 09:29 AM (#4207963) Subject: RE: Tech: mudcat.org certificate expired From: MudGuard Thanks Joe. I know how to handle - but I wanted to report, so the certificate could be renewed, so as little users as possible are affected ... |
05 Sep 24 - 03:21 PM (#4207984) Subject: RE: Tech: mudcat.org certificate expired From: Bat Goddess I note it yesterday, but I trust Mudcat and I know how to bypass as I've done it for trusted websites in the past. Linn |
06 Sep 24 - 10:24 AM (#4208003) Subject: RE: Tech: mudcat.org certificate expired From: MaJoC the Filk Just realised (I'm slow*): Looks like the new cert's in place. Thanks, Max. * I'm dischuffed with myself that the cart-tracks of habit have cut so deep that I didn't notice for a day or two. But that's a discussion best continued below the line.

07 Sep 24 - 09:47 AM (#4208027) Subject: RE: Tech: mudcat.org certificate expired From: MoorleyMan As of today, it looks like you're right Joe after all. I still keep getting the Privacy error whenever I reload the site, and ditto on my startup pages too. The Advanced Issues-bypass fix works, but it's a pain every time I need to refresh the pages. |
07 Sep 24 - 09:55 AM (#4208028) Subject: RE: Tech: mudcat.org certificate expired From: MudGuard I still get the certificate with expiration date of September 4th, 2024 |
07 Sep 24 - 12:32 PM (#4208034) Subject: RE: Tech: mudcat.org certificate expired From: Backwoodsman No problems here in the Lincolnshire UK Backwoods. Got the error message a few days ago, all fine since. |
07 Sep 24 - 01:06 PM (#4208036) Subject: RE: Tech: mudcat.org certificate expired From: DaveRo The experience varies by browser and device. On Firefox desktop, having accepted the warning and set an exception, it doesn't warn me again. The crossed-out padlock shows the exception still applies, so the certificate is still invalid. On Firefox Android the warning is repeated if I close then reopen the browser (rarely) or it's unloaded to free memory for another app (occasionally) and then I load Mudcat. So it's more of a nuisance. Again, there's a crossed-out padlock. Other browsers may make life even more difficult. |
07 Sep 24 - 01:19 PM (#4208037) Subject: RE: Tech: mudcat.org certificate expired From: Backwoodsman Aaaahh, all working fine on my iPad (Safari) but got the warning on my Laptop (MS Edge). |
07 Sep 24 - 01:42 PM (#4208038) Subject: RE: Tech: mudcat.org certificate expired From: DaveRo I noticed that on my iphone, in both Safari and Firefox (which perforce uses Safari's code), once you've set up the certificate exception you do not see a crossed-out padlock. So you can't tell the cerificate is still invalid. |
07 Sep 24 - 02:20 PM (#4208039) Subject: RE: Tech: mudcat.org certificate expired From: MaJoC the Filk Thanks for the clarification, DaveRo. My browser is indeed Firefox, and I've just spotted the crossed-out padlock, now I know to look for it. I did say I'm slow :-) . |
