22 Sep 24 - 02:15 AM (#4208695) Subject: Obit: Zulya Kamalova (1969-2024) From: Tony Rees I am very sad to relay to Mudcatters that one of Australia's favourite "world music" and folk performers, the Russian-born singer and musician Zulya Kamalova, died 4 days ago from the cancer from which she had been suffering from for some time. She was just 55. She came to Australia in 1991 and lived here ever since, but toured in Europe as well, more recently with her band "The Children of the Underground". Zulya resided initially in Hobart for some 9-10 years before relocating to Melbourne, where she remained and was most recently the Director of Music for the acclaimed "Boite" world music venue there.
