15 Dec 24 - 06:56 PM (#4213561) Subject: Lyr Req: Question about 'Voice of the Bayou' From: maire-aine Greetings, everyone. I've been digging into the songs of Anita Carter, and I came upon "Voice of the Bayou". The first line of the chorus is written, in the version I found, as "Um-a-pa palesu-va um-a-pa palesu-va um-a-pa palesu-va" before continuing as "Voice of the Bayou (2x). I presume this is some sort of phonetic spelling of something Cajun French, but I can't make it out. Does anyone know what the correct spelling would be, and how it might translate to English? Thank you so much. Maryanne |
