Lyr Req: Question about 'Voice of the Bayou'

Greetings, everyone. I've been digging into the songs of Anita Carter, and I came upon "Voice of the Bayou". The first line of the chorus is written, in the version I found, as "Um-a-pa palesu-va um-a-pa palesu-va um-a-pa palesu-va" before continuing as "Voice of the Bayou (2x). I presume this is some sort of phonetic spelling of something Cajun French, but I can't make it out. Does anyone know what the correct spelling would be, and how it might translate to English? Thank you so much. Maryanne

Wow!! Wish I could help. Good luck. I have a fairly good knowledge of French. I live in Quebec but born on P.E.I. with Acadian blood, but this one really stumps me.

Clan Carter was real big on all things old school biblical. This one is classic Hebrew for "Glory to God. His will.. &c&c." Exact translations will vary from scholar-to-scholar.
