Given the number of time's Dick's name has turned up here recently, including references to songs he's recorded, 'catters may be interested in this post of Dick's to his usual newsgroups.

Dick writes:

My website has received little maintenance over the past year or two due to my being pretty constantly on the road but I have now found the time to give it an upgrade.

The site has been completely overhauled. The discography and song archive in particular have had a lot of stuff added, with music notation now available for many of the songs.

As always, it is designed to be browser-independent and fully accessible to people with disabilities.

You'll find it at:

In 1985 friday the 3rd of May Dick played at the Stonoway folk club.
He stayed at my home, the day he arrived until he left the next day.
I was the M.C & also a back up singer the best night of my very amateur days as a so called folk singer. he like every high profile Folk singer on the circuit at that time & I was lucky enough to met a lot of these legends of Scottish folk said keep the day job Ralphie but don't stop playing. I'm 71 years old I still keep playing my 3 chords thanks to Dick, Hamish & Ian MacIntosh God Bless. My Grandchildren think I'm a super star.
Ralph Stokes.

NOTE: The link to Dick Gaughan's old web site, cited in this thread, is broken because the host server is defunct. However, a historical version of Dick Gaughan's web site may still be viewed via the Wayback Machine. This includes Dick Gaughan's Song Archive.

It has probably been mentioned on other threads, but sadly, Dick had a stroke a few years back, and has done very little performing since, which is also probably why his website is no longer maintained. However, it was good to see him in action again during a performance of “Far, far from Ypres” back in 2018, the 100th anniversary of the ending of WW1.

It does not appear to be active.
I have tried to contact Dick many times via many sources but all fail. Even the agencies & his old friends do not seem able to help me make contact. m
