Anyone know the chords to the song L.A. County by Lyle Lovette? Thanks

I'm sorry I don't know that one, but while we've got Lovett fans here, anyone have the words to "Cowboy Man"? (At least I think that's the title--"and I will rope her, across the prairie", or something like that, is one of the lines.)

it's been a couple months since i last listened to this song, and i don't have access to the liner notes right now, so this is the best i can remember. i'll check my work tonight and add any corrections.

god, i love this song. : )

L.A. County
by Lyle Lovett

She left Dallas for California
With an old friend at her side
Well, he did not say much but one year later
He'd ask her to be his wife

And the lights of L.A. County
They look like diamonds in the sky
When you're driving through the hours
With an old friend at your side

Well one year later I left Houston
With an old friend at my side
Well it did not say much but was a beauty
Of a coal black forty-five

And I drove on through the hours
And I drove on through the night
As I thought of her a-waiting
For to be his blushing bride

And the lights of L.A. County
They looked like diamonds in the sky
As I drove into the valley
With my old friend at my side

And as she stood there at the altar
All dressed in her gown of white
Lord, her face was bright as the stars a-shining
Like I dreamed of all my life

And they kissed each other and they turned around and
Saw me standing in the aisle
Well, I did not say much, I just stood there watching
As that forty-five told them goodbye

And the lights of L.A. County
Look like diamonds in the sky
When you're kneeling at the altar
With an old friend at your side

And the lights of L.A. County
Are a mighty pretty sight
When you're kneeling at the altar
With an old friend at your side

sorry it took me so long to follow up, here, but there are two corrections i need to make:

1) after the coal black forty-five verse there's another repeat of the "and the lights of..." verse, identical to the first one.

2) the line "and i drove on through the hours" should be "so i drove on all the day long"

what a great song.

chords are about as simple as they get: alternate 1 and 4 (in the key of C, that'd be C and F) once per line until the verse where he shoots 'em, where you switch to a 5 (G) on the line "forty-five told them good-bye". come back to a C on the "bye". go nuts on the dobro if you have one. after that the chords are F C G C.

first 7 verses:
C - F -
C - F -
C - F -
C - F -

"and they kissed..."
C - F -
C - F -
C - F -
G - C -

last two verses:
F - C -
G - C -
F - C -
G - C -

she wore glass slippers
she held her head up high
she had that sparkle at her feet
and that twinkle in her eye

she smiled at me
and as i wondered why
she said "i'm lookin' for a cowboy
to take me for a ride"

chorus:
and he can rope me on the prairie
and he can ride me on the plain
and i will be his cinderella
if he'll be my cowboy man

she said "i got a forty gallon stetson hat
with a thirty-eight foot brim
and we could dance around the outside, baby
until we both fall in"

chorus (pronoun = you)

well, i aint never been no cowboy
heaven knows i try
i'd be ridin' tall in my saddle, honey
with my cinderella by my side

chorus (pronouns = i, her)

lyle, lyle, lyle. *shakes head* what a strange and wonderful man.
