When first I came to town, I came in from the country.
Many times I tried to tell you, all the hurt that I was feeling.
There's no need to think of me, I'll be happy where I'm going.
And as for you the years will heal, all the wounds that have been opened. Patrick Sky

07 Dec 01 - 09:11 PM (#606121) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Love Will Endure-Patrick Sky From: catspaw49 He was influenced by Mississippi John and actually produced the last two albums Hurt did. He then went on to work with Peter LaFarge and Buffy Ste.Marie and you can hear Pat's influence on her. Lean and beautiful describe a lot of his best ballads. Glad you liked it Amos, he's been my favorite for years and I was sad when he moved out and on to other things.....didn't like where the scene was going in the mid 70's. He's researched and written extensively, some for the Smithsonian, on Uillean Pipes and pipes in general. Spaw |
08 Dec 01 - 12:33 AM (#606208) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Love Will Endure-Patrick Sky From: Peter Kasin I love that song, and I used to play it pretty often back in the 70s. I'll go back to my old LP collection and play it again. I'd forgotten about that little gem! It has such a gentle, plaintive feel to it - a sensitive blend of singing and songwriting. Thanks for posting that, Spaw. -chanteyranger |
08 Dec 01 - 12:49 AM (#606218) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Love Will Endure-Patrick Sky From: DonMeixner I have never stopped doing this song either in part or in total. I'd do it as a companion piece to "Everytime" by Tom Paxton. There is an elegance here that not many other songs even aspire to. Don |

09 Dec 01 - 01:17 AM (#606604) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Love Will Endure-Patrick Sky From: catspaw49 Sorry Stewie.....and sorry for myself too. I had all of them on vinyl and actually purchased a couple of them two or more times because I played the livin' hell out of them. I really loved his stuff and his slightly askew renditions of trad and semi-trad songs. Of the other three, I wouldn't pick a favorite. The two Verve albums were pretty much all his own stuff and unlike many singer/songwriters, his trad background made for songs that were provoking without being personally introspective.....in other words, anyone could sing them. I have two of the MJH albums (on CD) he produced or played on. A complete listing is here....Patrick Sky Discography. I wish someone would bring them back on CD as my vinyl melted down in a warehouse fire. Spaw |

09 Dec 01 - 02:30 AM (#606627) Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Love Will Endure-Patrick Sky From: Stewie Thanks, Spaw. That is a pity. Perhaps they will come in due course. For example, a couple of Fred Neil's Elektra albums have been reissued recently on a single CD. I have an order in for that - I thought it almost too good to be true. Cheers, Stewie. |
