John Hammond (Jr.) used to do a tune that went:

I got the bullfrog blues, and I can't be satis-, I can't be satis-, I mean -fied,

I got the bullfrog blues and I can't be satisfied...

Anyone know where this comes from? Merci pour votre assistance,

James in Bristol, RI

The 'Bull Frog Blues' that Hammond recorded was recorded by William Harris for Gennett in October 1928.

Stewie.

Not to be confused with "Did you ever wake up with bullfrogs on your mind" by David Bromberg!

BULLFROG BLUES
As recorded by William Harris, 1928.

Have you ever woke up with them bullfrogs on yo',
Bullfrogs on yo', I mean, mind?
Have you ever woke up, mama, bullfrog on yo' mind?
Have you ever woke up with them bullfrogs on yo' mind?

Didn't it rain here, mama, sun shinin' in yo',
Sun shinin' in yo', I mean, door?
It gonna rain today, mama, sun shine in yo' door.
Gonna rain today, the sun will shine in yo' back door.

I'm 'o' tell you this time, mama; I ain't gon' tell you no,
Ain't gon' tell you no, I mean, mo'.
I'm 'o' tell you this time, mama; ain't gon' tell you no mo'.
I'm 'o' tell you this time, mama; ain't gon' tell you no mo'.
I'm gon' leave you, partner, an' I won't be back here no mo'.

I left you standin' here, buddy, in your back door,
In your back door, bullfrog blues.
I left you here standin', mama, in your back door.
I left you standin' here in your back door cryin'.

Got the bullfrog blues, mama, can't be satis--
Can't be satis-- ...
Got the bullfrog blues and I can't be satisfied.
Got the bullfrog blues and I can't be satisfied.

Have you ever dreamed like ya woke up cold in,
Woke up cold in, I mean, hand?
Have you ever dreamed like ya woke up cold in hand?
Have you ever dreamed like ya woke up cold in hand?

I'm gonna tell you, buddy, what-a Johnny Mattola,
Johnny Mattola, I mean, do.
I'm gonna tell you, what-a Johnny Mattola do.
You don't like me, well I sure-God don't like you.

And lookee here, partner: see what you done to,
See what you done to, I mean, me.
Lookee here, partner; see what you done to me.
And lookee here, partner, see what you done to me.

And the sun gon' shine in my back door some,
My back door some, I'll say today.
The sun gon' shine in my back door someday.
And the sun gon' shine in my back door someday.
