Lyr Add: Colorado (National Lampoon Lemmings)

Can anyone please supply the lyrics to "Colorado's Calling Me"? I believe it was on the National Lampoon's album "Lemmings". I may have the title wrong, but part of the lyrics go.

We had time and space and freedom, We had peace and love to share, 'till we ran out of things to smoke, And say, and eat, and wear, And the morning of the avalanche, The Yeti kidnapped Blanche, And took her to his caves up in the Rockies.

TIA

The baby didn't die, until we'd burned up all the wood. Considering we ate her raw, she tasted pretty good. But the facist health inspectors dug us out and mailed us home. All except for Blanche, who wouldn't leave her man.

Is it true they don't get worse than that? (At least not unless you go into limericks-uh oh, what am I starting here?!!!) I do remember Patrick Sky did an actual song with a dead baby in it....

Jim & Jesse McReyolds recorded a version
Colorado Calling Me

All the way from sunny California
Back to the hills of Sunny Tennessee
Seems no matter where I wander
I still hear Colorado Calling Me...

If that's the one, have an MP3 of it..

Hey! What's this wholesomeness doing in this disgusting thread?

...which puts me in mind of Tom Lehrers Irish Ballad

About a maid I'll sing a song
(Sing rickety tickety tin)
About a maid I'll sing a song,
Who didn't have her family long
Not only did she do them wrong,
She did every one of them in, them in
She did every one of them in.

One morning in a fit of pique,
She drowned her brother in the creek...

And so on. It ends...

(But when the constable came by
Her little pranks she did not deny
For to do so she would have had to lie
And lying, she knew, was a sin...
Lying, she knew was a sin.)

Yup.
W-O

Nice try Gene, but the segue was a little lumpy.

Anywho, I rilly am looking for all the verses to the Natl. Lampoon version.

The above was a rather nasty parody of John Denver songs in general, that appeared in National Lampoon's "Lemmings."

I used to sing it from time to time, and have been asked for the lyrics. I can reconstruct most of them out of my head, but don't have them written down or on disk, and I'm not sure of all of them. I've checked the DT and run a Google search, without any luck so far.

Anyone have them?

Peter.

Colorado
-- by Christopher Guest, Sean Kelly and Tony Hendra, 1973

I'm stuck in this old city now where living ain't no fun
Where steel and glass and concrete cancel out the wind and sun
And I'm thinking of last winter now
when we walked hand in hand
In the trails of the Colorado Rockies

The wind sang us a lullaby, the snow was thick as cream,
And icicles were chandeliers like crystals in a dream
And the streams were strips of diamonds
And the hills were white as snow,
And a bear ate all our soybeans in the night.

Oh, Colorado's calling me
From her hillsides and her rivers and her mesas and her trees,
When blizzards snap the power lines
And all the toilets freeze
In December in the Colorado Rockies.

We had time and space and freedom.
We had love and peace to spare
Though we ran out of things to smoke and say and eat and wear
And the morning of the avalanche
The Yeti kidnapped Blanche
And took her to his cave up in the Rockies.

Oh, Colorado's calling me
From her glaciers and her canyons and her badlands and ravines,
And infectious hepatitis
Was all that came to stay
In January in the Colorado Rockies

The baby didn't die until we'd burned up all our wood
Considering we ate her raw, she tasted pretty good
Then the fascist health inspectors
Dug us out and mailed us home --
Except for Blanche who wouldn't leave her mate.

Oh, Colorado's calling me
From her mountains and her rivers and her meadows and her trees
They tell me I'll be cured soon
Thawed and ready to return
When it's April in the Colorado Rockies
