Song is a revised version of the 17th century "Cupid's Treppan". Tune is now coded (with all others from that book, Kidson's 'Traditional Tunes' and the first 3 issues of JFSS, 1899,1900, and 1901) in file COMBCODE.TXT on my website.

If "Cupid's Trepan" is in Kidson's TT I haven't seen it there. It is in Chappel's PMOT, p. 555, though the melody there isn't precisely the same as the one above.
