a couple of the color combinations are really difficult to read. other then that, looks okay over the T3. I wouldn't want to have to download it over my modem, though.

On your list of gigs it doesn't say where they are. Is that Chatham, Kent, England?

Clinton, some of your links are virtually invisible against your backgrounds. That's what I meant about the color combinations.

Sorry, I have terrible ISP connections at home, my preference, (and I will admit it is mine) is when in doubt, always simplify. Don't use a graphic where text will do. Minimize the size of every page, etc. That's what I look for in a page.

Clinton, I left you a note in your guest book, I need a bit more time to really look it over.

Also sound like yer T3 has spoiled ya! Ya lucky bugger!! LOL!!!!

I found a couple of the colour combintions a little difficult to read, the links page being the hardest.

I prefer sites to have a more consistant feel to them and found the use of all the different backgrounds a little distracting.

No problem with download times on my dial up connection.

Sounds like you are a frames kinda guy...

Love the site, though I agree that the colors are hard on these old eyes.

The photo is a nice on though. I do a lot of portrait work, and I like yours.

Thanks Jon... But I'm the exact opposit... I bore easily, so I like it when a page has different backgrounds and such...

Molly Malone, I'm not specially a frames person and the visual impact thing is not easy - there is no pleasing everybody. A site I really like for its layout, use of background and art work (not to mention its content!) is http://www.contemplator.com/

*GAAAHK*

There's nothing I hate more than people who embed cheesy MIDI songs into their webpages! MIDI always sounds like some cruddy C64 fantasy game... I couldn't get away from that site fast enough to suit me!

I'm gonna need to lay down for awhile and wait for the shaking to pass! LOL!!!

I don't think Leslie's midis are cheesy at all, I think they are some of the best. I do agree on your comment about midis that play without your asking them to though. I prefer to listen to them on my own terms. What I REALLY object to is when you are listening to internet radio or other sound files of your own, and a site butts in and takes over the sound. But when you go to a site such as hers or other known midi sites, you usually go to listen, so I don't find it really all that obnoxious, though I do prefer to make my own choices as I stated earlier.

Looks good. However, where ARE your gigs? There is a Windsor CA, a Kent WA, etc. Locale would be a helpful thing to add.

Gotcha Gypsy... I've ment to add that I'm a Windsor Ontario Canada local...

Yes, I think the yellow text on the links page is a bit painful. The blue on the movie page could be lightened up a bit, but it's not too bad. Cool site.

Clinton - ALL midis sound cheesy? Isn't that a bit sweeping? I've played some that proffessional musicians could not tell from recording of their own music!!!

Clinton, it's a nice site. The problem with some combinations of colors is that when the designer looks for a good contrast very frequently overlooks that many users, like me, in order to avoid visual strain, set their monitors to a much lower intensity, and then some labels are almost lost (like the red label for an already visited link). Try dimming your monitor to something between 50-60% of the maximum (ideal for this black-on white text) and you'll see the problem.
My complaint is for the XXX link: I entered, of course, (how could I resist the curiosity, especially for that incredible combination of the words FUN and XXX ?) and got a sermon, admonizing me to leave my parent's basement (what I've done a long time ago), eat healthy food (what I will never do), limit my hours at the CRT (what my wife could not obtain) and finally thrown out of the page. Hey! It's YOU who is writing those obscene labels! :))) Un abrazo - Andrés

Hi Clinton, from just across the river,

As I perceive it … I would recommend making the wallpaper behind your picture either more out of focus or exactly in focus. The way it is now, your picture (which is very well shot) is fighting with the wallpaper for the eye's attention. The eye is trying to figure out the wallpaper design.

But it's fine as-is, or would be fine more out of focus also, behind the text section.

I would center the large-type heading, Clinto's Stuff.. I would center the text body, at least approximately – maybe just moving each line over two more tab stops.

For the text body, I would go to a larger font, and also either try bolding the one you're using, OR ELSE experiment with a different font (typeface) that is somewhat bold to begin with. A reverse (dark background, white type) is tricky. Basically the white letters need to be larger than normal and blockier than normal, in order to be readable. It takes experimenting.

I think you've got a fine prototype. I like the snappy text and links. With one exception, I react quite strongly against the XXX one, I just think it is without class and does not reflect well on you. But perhaps you're aiming for the punk market?

I repeat, these are just suggestions about enhancing a perfectly fine concept. Cheers! -- Larry C.
