08 Mar 00 - 05:20 AM (#191745) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Mama, italian words, phoenetically From: Escamillo I've just seen this. Tonight I'll post the lyrics and an as-close-as-possible English phonetics. I suppose you are referring to Bixio's song "Mamma" which I've sang many times, despite of the small difference between Pavarotti and me. Ci vediamo - Andrés (from Buenos Aires, Argentina) |

I'm half-Italian myself, and this song plays a large part in my music heritage! I could do a phonetic translation too, if you're too busy, Andres. --Mbo ("Mamma sol tanto felice....") |

09 Mar 00 - 02:05 PM (#192580) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Mama, italian words, phoenetically From: Escamillo MBO, thank you - I'll be waiting those words to complete the song (if you want to post the phonetics too, please go ahead) Joe, thanks for the reference ! Some time we'll talk about Italian songs.. rolsin, I'll get a MIDI version (for you to listen by means of WinAmp or any Windows MIDI player) or to write down to paper if you have CakeWalk, Encore or similar. CrowHugger, you make me smile : all wannabe tenors who consider themselves NOT a shouting tenor, is because THEY CAN'T !! HA HA HAHA ! That's the truth ! Of course there is a matter of taste - if you put Pavarotti to sing Greensleeves, or Amazing Grace, you'll find that 1) he is unable to pronounce a foreign language acceptably and 2) it will probably sound similar to Celeste Aida. However, you can bet that 99% of singers would do anything to have a voice like his, and perform a Celeste Aida ! Myself, am a mix of smooth emotional singing and a loud firm presence, mainly because more than that I CAN'T !! In my favor I can say that I don't use amplification except some rare ocassions when I have a full jazz band behind me. When more than half of audience and musicians leave, than I turn the mic off again. :)) Un abrazo - Andrés |
10 Mar 00 - 02:27 AM (#192932) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Mama, italian words, phoenetically From: Escamillo Sorry, after another hour of web shipwrecking I couldn't find a MIDI for Bixio's Mamma (it's full of Mamma Mias by Space Girls or similar). Would someone else be so kind to search a little deeper ? Un abrazo - Andrés |
