14 May 00 - 03:35 PM (#227897) Subject: Happy Mudder's Day! From: BlueJay I just wanted to wish all of our Mudcat Moms a happy Mudders Day. (OK, bad pun). I just got off the phone with my mother, aunt sister etc., and I thought I should extend my personal thanks to all of you Mudcatters, as well. Aha!, they cry, but what has this to do with music, the one and true inspiration for The Mudcat Cafe? Well, how about "Motherless Children", "Mama Tried", and "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh"? ("Camp Grenada", it is in the DT, at least in the kid's section, under one of those titles). These are just off the top of my head. There are lots more. Maybe someday, someone will find or write the "Mother of all Songs". Now I feel very qualified to speak, here. While not technically a mother myself, I do have one :) And I am married to one. She's going to get the roses as soon as she gets home, believe you me. She really keeps everything together around here, what can I say, I'd be lost. And don't try and give me this "Takes Two To Tango" BS. Mothers, and females in general, have a way of keeping things centered that's difficult for me to even understand, let alone describe. When my boss asked if I wanted to take over scheduling of employees, I said: "Why don't you ask my wife? She's the one who has to figure out how to get our two daughters to school, piano lessons, soccer, baseball, swimming, dance, gymnastics, library, and activities with friends". (I've got hyper kids)! Plus she has to take care of my sorry ass, and she manages to fulfill her own interests as well! So MOMS, (capitals intentional), here's to you. I know my own story is multiplied many times, in homes around the world. You are appreciated, even if you don't hear it enough. But hear it from me, today. I love you all. Ladies, I intended say more, but really and honest to God, my wife just got home so I need to go. Take some time for yourselves on this, your day. Rip yourselves away from the computer and take a walk or something. Play a song with your kids. Buy something you want. You really deserve it, and I'm probably not able to figure out what it is you really want, anyway. Accept my simple gift in the spirit in which it is intended, then go do whatever the Hell you want. I'm behind you all the way. All My Love, Jay |
14 May 00 - 03:38 PM (#227899) Subject: RE: BS: Happy Mudder's Day! From: Liz the Squeak Thanks Jay, the best thing about this sort of forum is that I get to celebrate things twice over!! We had Mothering Sunday a few weeks back, some how the chocolates and flowers didn't make it to this one, but I have eaten the best part of a chocolate gateau and done bog all to prepare it - guess you could say I've had my mother's day again.....! Although I am not a mother, and I don't have a mother anymore, I do have a sister who is a mother so I am going to take my sister Sherry out for dinner tonight to celebrate her being such a good mummy to my nephew David. I bought her flowers too. Little Neo |
