Can anyone give me any information about this festival? Are you going? How often does this happen? If I can manage to go, where should I stay? If I could have a wish granted, it would be to have spent an afternoon singing with Kate. I am an adoring fan. I sing her songs, idolizing them, every day. Are there more of you out there?

Kate Wolf was never my favorite writer, not near the the top 20. But could I have written some songs, I'd take Riding Out The Storm and Trumpet Vine any day I could. Those to songs are near to perfect songs.( May be Emma Rose and ".....Father was a man of few words...." are too)

I'll be attending the Kate Wolf Festival this year,June 23-25 in Sebastopol, CA. If anyone in the I-5 corridor in Oregon needs a lift, I'll be heading south from Portland,OR on Wed. June 21 and returning the 27th. Only room for one rider as I drive a pickup. I'll camp along the way. Being new to this site, am unsure about the best way to make contact; leave a message on this thread for starters, I'll check it routinely.

The Festival's getting closer and my earlier offer still stands. Any fellow travellers needing a ride?

Just saw this old posting that I did in 2000. I got to go to the Kate Wolf Festival this year, partly from the support of my music friends, Gordon Bok and Carol Rohl, Anne Dodson and Matt Szostak, Kendall and Jaquie Morse, The January Men and then Some, Will Brown and many others who helped me with a fund raiser concert. Thanks and love to all of them!

Well, I just returned from the festival and it was beyond my wildest dreams being realized. I was looking for remnants of Kate there....and found her, not as much in the music, as there were only two sets of her music being played... but in the people. I could almost tell the people that had heard her and had known her. I heard stories about her writing songs at someone's kitchen table...having a visit, sharing her life....with all of these lovely californians that I met. I signed up to sing at the open mic, which was a two song time at the prefestival Arlo stage which was delightful and filled me.
I enjoyed some great performances, among my favorites, a intimate tent performance by Red Molly from New York. The Wallin Jennies were as fantastic as ever and Paul Kamm and Eleanore MacDonald, Alisa Fineman and Kimball Hurd were excellent. Rosalie Sorrels was unfortunately ill and was unable to close the festival with her traditional singing of "Give yourself to Love".

Well, my personal miracle was being asked to join a great collection of musicians on the main stage and sing the middle verse solo to close out the entire festival!!! What a gift that will satisfy me for a lifetime. I totally would recommend a trip to go to this festival in 2012! Anyone want to join me? Kat
