Lyr Req: After the Ball + Hi-Lili Hi-Lo

Would lke the lyrics to 2 old songs. The first is After the Ball is Over, which was a waltz. I think it was from a war movie. The 2nd is Hi-lily Hi-lay. Not sure of the spelling. Do you know the name of the movies they came from? Thank you

After the Ball is Over, I tried "After the ball" in the search and it was number 30 on the list. I'm not sure of the other one but will keep looking.

A song of love is a sad song
Hi Lilly, Hi lilly, hi lo
A song of love is a song of woe
Don't ask me how I know

That as good as my memory gets tonight. Will keep trying. It is from a movie, but for the life of me can't remember.

I dunno Mark.....Use the "Digitrad AND Forum Search" not the Dt search or the thread filter. I typed this phase with NO brackets or quotes:

is a sad song

That got it for me.

'Spaw, if I didn't know you better I'd think you were flowing thrames ..... thlowing frames, I mean throwing flames. I think we need to invent a special emoticon for your postings which says: "It's all right folks, he's only being funny"

I'm kind of fond of the clown emoticon someone put in a thread one day, only I can't remember exactly what it looked like.

A song of love is a sad song Hi Lilly, Hi Lilly, Hi Low.
A song of love is a song of woe,
Don't ask me how I know.
A song of love is a sad song for I have loved and its so.
I sit by the window and watch the rain Hi Lilly, Hi Lilly, Hi Low.
Tomorrow I'll probably love again Hi Lilly, Hi Lilly Hi Low.

As it says in the other thread, Hi Lili Hi Lo was sung by Lesley Caron and Mel Ferrer in the 1953 film 'Lili'. It was recorded by Richard Chamberlain in 1963 and got to No.20, also rather better by Alan Price, who got to No.11 three years later.

Tom, I've a little confused. Going through the thread, I don't see any mention of that particular singer or song.

Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo has a thread devoted to it: Lyr Add: Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo (B Kaper, H Deutsch), which isn't linked at the top here. (There may be another too; I thought I'd posted the words for this sometime). There's an abc tune for it there and a link to the midi file in Mudcat Midi's.
