It's not too late, dear brothers
As my tears ring out in the moonlit night
I've got an orange sash given to me

I Wish I Was Back Home...
Chorus:
Walking down the street past the closed up shops
Frozen shoelaces flap around with each step
Chorus:
Slogging across the sodden lawn, snow receding
The rain clouds shift and congregate in prayer
Chorus:
Schools out, kids across the street playing baseball
The piper from Creston leading the annual parade
Chorus:
The geese cry, flying towards their southern refuge
The schoolyards bellow with the laughter of children
Chorus: Amergin

And speaking of new additions, we have a brand new Mudcatter adding his very first (Mudcat) song to the Book! It's The Rains Of April by MichaelAnthony, a beautiful, haunting, and evocative poem in itself; and I hope we all can hear him sing it on the Mudcat Radio very soon. 01 Sep 00 - 05:18 PM (#289526) Subject: RE: Part VII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Áine There ya go, Bradypus. Look in the 'Thread Songs' category for both of your newest entries in the Songbook, The Chromosomes Genomical and These Are Explicit Lyrics -- Well done once again, Mr. B! And Amergin's been busy, too -- This Is Our House and Donning The Red -- are both evocative, bittersweet songs about home, and having to leave it. Excellent stuff. Thank you both for your wonderful songs. Keep it up, Mudcatters, you're all fantastic! -- Aine |
01 Sep 00 - 05:22 PM (#289529) Subject: RE: Part VII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Áine Oops! Sorry, Bradypus, I was just all aflutter with your 'explicitness', and mistyped the name of one of your songs -- It should be These Lyrics Are Explicit. -- Aine |
01 Sep 00 - 07:19 PM (#289593) Subject: RE: Part VII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Bradypus Aine - The Explicit Lyric song didn't have an explicit title - I suppose it might have been implicit that the title was the first line. But if I can give an explicit title to the explicit lyrics song, I'll call it 'Explicit Lyrics' (if you see what I mean) Bradypus |

The Price To Pay (The Party, Party Song)
Well, you saw me walk in that door
I could talk to you all night
C'mon and party on, my dear
Let's get out of this bar
It may not last too long
C'mon and party on, my dear
We wear the scars of many battles
Well, pass that bottle round
Tomorrow is another day
C'mon and party on, my dear

06 Sep 00 - 06:26 AM (#291977) Subject: RE: Part VII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: The Shambles Stoneground
I see that limestone, look, in your eye
Roaring, pummelling thoughts aside
Stoneground…Where I want to be...On Stoneground
Its twisted ways, torturous to the mind
Debilitating needs, thunder on
Stoneground…Where I want to be...On Stoneground Katrina Gall and Roger Gall. (Started in 1986 and finished after returning home to Portland in)1996. |
06 Sep 00 - 10:23 AM (#292057) Subject: RE: Part VII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Áine There you go, Roger, I've added Stoneground to the Songbook. Very interesting song, that. Would you like to give me a little intro to it that I could put in before the lyrics, please? I'd love to know where this song 'came' from, so to speak. Thanks! -- Áine |
06 Sep 00 - 04:02 PM (#292327) Subject: RE: Part VII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: The Shambles When we were living in the Shetland Islands, Katrina became very homesick for her birthplace Portland. Which is a big lump of limestone sticking out into the English Channel. The distance between the two places is about as far as you can get and still remain in the UK. She wrote a poem about how she was feeling then, and if I had read it earlier we would have moved long before we did. We turned it into a song when she was feeling better and living on Portland. I just added the chorus and the first verse. |
06 Sep 00 - 06:43 PM (#292433) Subject: RE: Part VII - Additions to Mudcat Songbook From: Áine Thanks for the story of your song, Roger. I've added it to the song's page. And Amergin has sent in another one of his 'gotcha' love songs, Memories Of Heaven, which is wonderful. Check it out, 'Catters, and 'get got'! -- Aine |
