Don't remember the James Taylor intro, but if you like the key of D, you can start off with G, A7 and back to D heading into the song (mostly D and A7 -- the first line is all D with an A7 at the end, followed by the next line going back and forth between D and A; all this repeated in the next two lines; with a special G to kick off the "Oh Susanna chorus, and then back into alternating D and A). It is pretty easy to pick up by ear. Knowing James Taylor, he probably has some weird 9th and 11th versions of whatever chord intro he is using. You might try www.roughstock.com/cowpie/ -- they occasionally have complete transcriptions. yours, Peter T. |

I believe that it started with a three note CMaj7 in third position. from there it was something like CMaj7; D-7; E-7; A-7; CMaj7; A-7 D9; G7. Sorry, I can't remember more without listening to the song, but maybe this will get you started. Lucius |
