Kat sent me the one she linked above and its well worth the read too....more of a reference tool really!!!! And Wesley sent me this one which I have mightily enjoyed.....When you get time, spend a few moments at the altar of the LANDOVER BAPTIST CHURCH...updated regularly for your religious edification. Spaw |
01 Aug 00 - 07:00 PM (#269814) Subject: RE: BS: Profound wisdom & stupid aphorisims..etc From: Bill D Oh, my...I think I have known members of the Landover Baptist Church...*fanning myself feverishly* You know, some aspects of religion are a bit like Heavy Metal, or Punk Rock..they are so bizarre, they are hard to even parody well. No matter HOW extreme you portray them, there is some group that is seriously DOING it that way...*sigh*..that site is almost too well done to be funny..... |
01 Aug 00 - 07:07 PM (#269818) Subject: RE: BS: Profound wisdom & stupid aphorisims..etc From: katlaughing That was exactly the way I took it, too, Bill! Since I've followed some of the exteme in order to "know my enemy", I had to look hard at that one to see the diminutive "parody" copyright! How do you do that, Spaw? Sheesh! I'll bet you are the mastermnd behind that and several others!*bg* kat |
01 Aug 00 - 07:14 PM (#269824) Subject: RE: BS: Profound wisdom & stupid aphorisims..etc From: wysiwyg Gee, it feels safer all the time to be a Christian here at Mudcat. ~S~ |
02 Aug 00 - 11:59 PM (#270792) Subject: RE: BS: Profound wisdom & stupid aphorisims..etc From: Bill D well, I sure hope so, Praise...perhaps safer than being a crusty, old, philosophical curmudgeon. They rag me all the time...*grin*...There are sure more Christians here than obstinate folk fascists like me... If you wear your badge on your sleeve, as some of us do on some subjects, it will always draw comments. Seems to be the nature of things that we don't all see things the same way.... I am just imagining what it would be like if someone from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) came on here and crossed swords with some of our irreverant denizens...wow...think I'll think about something else. |
03 Aug 00 - 12:09 AM (#270796) Subject: RE: BS: Profound wisdom & stupid aphorisims..etc From: wysiwyg Bill D, hmm. No comment. Dumped it all at the garbage heap. ~S~ |
03 Aug 00 - 12:26 AM (#270801) Subject: RE: BS: Profound wisdom & stupid aphorisims..etc From: katlaughing Perhaps they already have, Bill...they're just in the closet...PETA-people, I mean...there are several of us who are vegetarians....ya never know. You are right about catching it if we wear it on our sleeve...works, too, sure don't see any specifically Healing Threads anymore, at least, not by that name. Censorship by coercion? Interesting discussion material perhaps? kat |
03 Aug 00 - 01:12 AM (#270818) Subject: RE: BS: Profound wisdom & stupid aphorisims..etc From: Bill D yep..perhaps NOT in open session...It is interesting, Kat..*smile*..I was one who really thought the healing threads were out of place, but I found myself defending you against the anons who were being so nasty..It is a bit like loving your kids, even when you correct them... I seldom, if ever attack a person..only an idea or position.....a delicate point, but an important one. (and, you notice, I seldom make a 'big' issue of being 'folk police' anymore..*grin*...'taint safe) I once knew a woman who I found I agreed with about almost every point she made in a group of which we were members, but she was TERRIBLE at being right! She offended and angered the other side, and embarrased ME! I'd rather know gentle, happy, spititual vegetarians *grin* than obnoxious atheists who offer me a steak.... |
03 Aug 00 - 01:20 AM (#270820) Subject: RE: BS: Profound wisdom & stupid aphorisims..etc From: katlaughing LOL, Bill, thanks for that...I think *grin*! I do appreciate your comments. And, yeah, probably best not in open session, eh? I think you do right well at curmudgeoning us along (oh I will get it for using that as a verb!) I've noticed a certain je ne sais quoi too, lately, in your postings. You drinking some new kind of water or something?*BG* kat |
