Songs can be posted by anyone for possible inclusion in the Digitrad. There have been no undue influences that I've noticed from any persuasion. Since you are both fairly new, first, welcome to the Mudcat, and, second, please read the very first thread, which is Teal in colour, Mudcat FAQs, and has a lot of information which may help you in using and enjoying the site. All the best, kat |

Actually, though, I posted that thread while laughing at the irony of it. I don't have any particular problems with whatever selections they choose to link to my posts. |
07 Aug 00 - 12:43 PM (#272915) Subject: RE: BS: Shop links on thread postings From: SeanM As I understood it, it's not so much a matter of choice, so much as it is a specific catalog of songs that when the title of the song appears, a corresponding link appears above the post. It is most helpful when you're searching for recordings of songs... the catalog is by no means comprehensive, but it's got some good depth. And for the threads where the links are responding to words in a sentence as opposed to an actual song, it's very easy to ignore them and continue on. M |
08 Aug 00 - 04:11 AM (#273442) Subject: RE: BS: Shop links on thread postings From: Joe Offer Why aren't there any song links on this thread? Maybe if I try some folk music magic words, a song or three will pop up. Hammer, shoals, herring, kick my dog blue around, union hall, ballad, muscle, fair maiden. C'mon, what's it take to get that thing to kick in and do its tricks? The idea is that you click on the songs and then consider buying the recordings from some of our favorite merchants (Camsco and Folk-Legacy, I believe - no more deserving folk merchants in the world), and they'll make a contribution to Mudcat, and everybody will be happy. -Joe Offer- I think maybe Max has it turned off so he can get the 'Cat to speed up.... |
