I live on Gun Lake, in the Yankee Springs State Game Area, nearest small town is Wayland, Michigan. Nearest large town is Grand Rapids, Michigan. Nearest very large city is Detroit or Chicago. Both are about the same distance for me. I was raised spending my summers and major holidays with family in the area between the wee villages of Parnell, MI (named for an Irish Patriot) and Grattan, MI (named for another Irish Patriot). Some of the county names in the state in which I live are Wexford, Roscommon and Clare. I guess I had better stop but the Irish influence in this state of the US is huge and I haven't even begun to tell you about it. Another thread. |
