25 Sep 00 - 06:48 PM (#305316) Subject: RE: The Spirit of Music From: Morticia Sorry Praise but I don't believe that......many people don't or can't experience love but music is still a meaningful medium, creative spirit burns bright and their sadness, loneliness, disability or whatever is their particular barrier against the world can be turned into music as poewerful and as beautiful as any other. Maybe music is the great leveller between those who have and those who have not..... |
25 Sep 00 - 07:56 PM (#305364) Subject: RE: The Spirit of Music From: wysiwyg Morty, I do not agree that some do not experience love. If there is heart and power like you describe in it, there is love too. Sometimes, even when it is strongest, it isn't easy to see. ~S~ |
25 Sep 00 - 08:31 PM (#305393) Subject: RE: The Spirit of Music From: khandu Music which issues from the Heart is Music with a capital M. No matter how adept one is at playing his instrument; no matter how developed his "technique", it is mechanical noise if it does not "move" the listener in some manner. I prefer a piece played unskillfully, but with passion, than the most masterful technical performance which lacks emotion. Of course, the skillful expression of one's heart on any instrument is best. But, I have wondered, what is it that I actually hear in an impassioned performance that moves me. Without seeing, or even without knowing anything about the performer, I can tell if it is from the heart. Why is this? khandu |
