THE GIRL IN THE WOOD Traditional When I was a young boy and drove my mother wild, I met a maiden in the wood, and she said, "Child, Look deep into my green eyes and at my autumn hair, When you're a man you'll never see another quite so fair." "Remember me, remember me, Remember for the rest of your life." It was recorded by Frankie Laine in 1951, and sung by him in the film "Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder" 1952. |

I learned it from a record by the "other" Jimmie Rodgers and he didn't sing the last verse. Never knew anything of its history before although I've been singing it since I think 1957 or 58. |

I know of an Art and Paul who recorded on Columbia in the 1960's, but not the ones that recorded this song. -Joe Offer- |
