OK that last one was getting a bit weighty - I'm sure that people still have lots to say though, so here's a new thread.

Well, I for one vote that Phoebe is a very nice child indeed ... bratling she may be at home, but lovely in company. And Amoret is a very together lady - kept her oldies well organised all Friday night, anyway. Probably all weekend. Teach your children well ...

Sian - there was an occasion on the Saturday Night at the caravan when Amoret's oldies started to get out of hand - she soon reigned them in though. You are so right! A very together young lady indeed.

And as for Phoebe - I agree - a delightful child full of energy.

Thanks Catrin, Memories? too many to sort, at the moment, as I mention elswhere I'm currently annoying colleagues by humming songs at work, but the real and enduring memory will be the people I met and how easy they were to be with, and No Prima Donnas!!!! at a folk event!!!!, they are all lovely,
To paraphrase
" So heres to you and our time together
I raise to you a parting glass and wish you safe 'till we meet again"

Yeah - too many to sort - I look at my posting onthe previous thread (which was an attempt to be comprehensive). The more I look at it, the more I realise how much I missed out. Like the fact that we were all so squashed in that little front room at The Red Lion, but that didn't matter. In fact, it added to the cosy, intimate feel. And i forgot to mention Buff's curry. Yummy and, I feel sure, stopped me getting too out of hand when the end of the night came (at about 1.30am).

Cheers,

Catrin

I remember dancing and dancing and dancing and really needing oxygen on saturday night. I did a clappy slappy dance with Jon Freeman and just as we were getting it right the dance finished - ahhhh never mind Jon, next time.

Sam, if you're reading this can you send me "Llanfair Gathering" to paul_draper@ukgateway.net.

Trevor said, a few blocks back, Sian, I think I'm at the meeting we talked about, and I missed the cake.

Are those two supposed to be connected?? Does this mean, Trev, that you CAN come to the UK Leader II Network meeting? (yippee, on confirmation thereof) Bring guitar. These events have a soft underbelly, disguised in reports to the EC to protect the innocent. More like Llanstock than one cares to admit to funding bodies. We refer to certain sections of the timetable as Focus on Culture in Rural Development.

Now, if Patrish can just make a case for tagging along with whoever is bidding for Leader + money in her area ...

But don't tell me I have to make cake, too!

I've just done the rounds, returning glasses to the Red, stuff to Pippins, and collecting my bedding from the pub. The various assorted bits of clothing left behind, including Liz's shawl will be returned shortly by post.
I did suggest that we make everyone come and fetch their stuff, so we could have another bash, but they didn't think that was strictly ethical!!!
Cheers, Bron.

Small?? That held a good 4 pints, mun. Owain Glydwr, 4.3 percent (I think). Thomas Watkins Brewery, currently Llandeilo, soon to be Swansea .

Luvly, luvly stuff theys gots ther. Their summer beer, Cwrw Haf, was a symphony.

We must do more on the beer swap front at the next UK meet.

The beer... What was the name of that stout? I loved it - from Hereford?

As for the cake, I'm afraid I missed out on that one. I was offered a slice and should have taken one for later but I was feeling more than a little rough on the Sun morning and could not face food of any kind.

Patrish, I am glad it wasn't just you who felt in need of the oxygen, I felt that way after one dance! Now how did the clap clap clap bit go, I seem to remember you had it right long before I did. I think that I am a lost cause when it comes to dancing...

Was it the stout which rejoiced in the name of Dorothy Bigbody or something similar? Its a shame I was temporarily teetotal Sat & Sun. I think if Bron's scam had come off I'd have had to pretend I'd left something behind, just so I could come back. But, of course, I left my heart....... Phoebe is yours, just come and pick her up. She wears nothing but school uniform, pink, sorry, that should be PINK and the little black number for parties. She eats pasta, sausage - she demolished two giant ones from the chippy Friday night after saying she didn't want anything.....

She is a stage hogger I'm afraid. Give her a mike and she's harder to shift than a shite mark..... Mind you, she wasn't too bad.....

So when do we get to see Micca's pictures then?

I'm still rummaging in my head for scrappettes of memories,my God-daughters performance was a highlight, as was Amoret's.Isn't it a comfort to know there's a whole generation coming up behind us who will sing the songs, tell the stories and hopefully, buy the beer.
'Tis sad but true that Gomez now has another....brown, curvacious (sob) and with good taste.....let's face it, I don't stand a chance.
Dancing with Bill was a highlight but I hope to God no-one caught it on camera ( umm, sorry about your feet,Bill) and all the musicians and singers.....you couldn't find a flat note with a spyglass and a map.
I don't think I left anything behind Bron but I could pretend I did.

Mudgard, it is Significant Other, it refers to both "married" as in legally, and informal but long term relationship, and applies to relationships of either or same sex regardless of the "legal" definition.

For MudGuard's sake as well as my own, can I just check about the term SO - is it used seriously? I have only ever seen it used on Mudcat, and assumed it was used sort of tongue- in- cheek. I understand the need for such a term, but this seems rather cumbersome?

I can see them looking through narrowed eyes, thinking "get a life" or somesuch, even though all my friends know that I have a massive 3D life.

I can't begin to understand the magic - oh please, I'm not about to get religion am I?

Terry, it was braw meeting you in Llanfair. I was serious about getting you down to Tollesbury for a sail soon. I was down on Tuesday night, to find the good ship Natterjack had sunk at her mooring, the combination of too much rain and a self draining deck turning into a self filling deck! Two solid hours of pumping out, making Mutley noises, and getting cross with myself that I'd left her so long.

Hope your Norfolf Oyster is snug in her berth @ Rutland.

Very Brideshead, Bron. Shame he couldn't heave to for a yarn.

I went to the Outward Bound Sea School in Aberdovey, sailing old whalers and Wayfarers, in 1975. Had a braw time of it. It was a bit like going to the grey green greasy Limpopo river, all set about with fever trees, as I went there a wimp, and a month later came back a brick shithouse, and spanked all my aunties and uncles.

Very fond memories

RRAATTSS!!

I have just spent many jealous minutes catching up on the happenings at Llanstock. The pictures have enabled me to put faces to many Mudcat friends that I could have met. Someday soon, we must have a gathering somewhere in the SouthEast, I'll see what Micca, LtS, Morticia and co think.

I should have been there - anything would have been more fun than what I was doing (Figuring out how to shut down a business that had gone pear-shaped, fire six friends and my own daughter and get out without losing Francis Towers to the Bank).

One consolation is that having done all that in the past two weeks, I should now have more freedom to indulge myself musically, and probably a need to make a little money out of it. Suggestions welcome!

I count myself accursed I was not there, and rouse me at the name of Llanstock!

Well done, Bron!!

Hiya Skipjack.

I went to the Ourtward Bound Sea School on the Moray Firth in 1969 and sailed the old cutters there, which I have a hunch were moved to Aberdovey. You may have seen the dents my fingernails made on one on a filthy day up there. I sail whenever I get the opportunity now but it has to be on other people's boats, mainly deliveries, so if ever you're short of crew......

Aberdovey is my 'local', and favourite, bit of seaside and where I would like to keep a boat if I had one. I did a bit of work there as well - (I run these up-and-down-hills-and-paddling-canoe-type courses for a living) and always reckoned that the School there was the pick of the bunch.

Depends how many people. If there's going to be hundreds, then probably the Ducie - which is bigger, but fairly strict on licensing laws. If there's not too many, then the JA - which, well, stops letting people in at 11 but....

I think as I type. Hmmm The JA is easy walk from Picadilly Train station so for people arriving that way, it would be ideal.

It aint too big - but think how many we squashed into the front bar of your local, Bron!

17th-18th ish is fine for me.

Cheers,

Catrin

The weekends either side would be better for me, because Jim's on call that weekend, but don't worry if that's the best for everyone else, I'll sort something out.
I've sent an article to the local paper, and a couple of Micca's photos- they were the easiest to "Attach". If anyone wants a copy when it comes out, could you put your snail-mail addy in a personal message for me, please.
Cheers, Bron.

The soup dragon is going to go totally focking ballistic when I mention this one (or two). Self preservation might be to parachute in for one night.....

(Holy sheeeet, the accordion player found out!!!!)

Liz, having had a good look at yours, there's a few things I wanted to get orf me chest.

1. Waited for you as long as we could before the group photo. Really wanted you there, with the Great White and Feebs, but we had to scram sharpish. Missed me goodbye snog, too. You look so sad in your grouplet photo, or was it just as jaded as the rest of us look?

2. Lemme at yer cellar. I've got biceps like Popeye, as I pumped out the remaining ton this morning, with second son serving his 'dentures, holding the bucket!

Squeaking like mad here, Skip, we were sad because a) we'd missed people, b) we had to go home c) Phoebe was being a bratling, if you look her face is screwed up, mid yell..... and d) Micca took it before we were really ready!

The cellar is slowly emptying, thanks to us being on a gravel bed, and we haven't had any rain for the past 2 days..... it just smells like something died down there now.... but if you still want to come over and do some pumping, I'm sure I can find you something.....

I couldn't resist adding one more picture to my small collection of Llanstock pictures as I am sure he was with us in spirit and it was taken in Llanfair C.
