We have one of his early albums, recorded in the seventies about the time I saw him at the fiddle festival in CLoverdale, California.I don't think he was very well known then, but I was captured from the start. He was my mandolin teacher for a while in there. The album is Jody Stecher and Friends on Bay Records. The particular song is "Leila, Leila" I have the recordin storage in the USA, but here I am in the middle of the Middle Kingdom. No Jody Stecher here if it doesn't come from Mudcat! We just got this CD from Amazon.com its great! Jody's version of Gypsy Davey is the first cab off the rank to start playing. Seth, we also just got a reissue of Jody's early stuff, Going Up the Mountain + Snake Bakes a hoedown etc. Have only just heard Leila, Leila for the first time this week as a result.
