Manchester, UK. Big Thanks!

As well as having a splendid time all round we managed to raise 138 pounds for the Children in need appeal. I will try to add in our clubs next singers night reaffle and see if we can make it up to 150 quid.

A big pat on the back for all who contributed and an especialy big thank you to Bill S for the donation of the fine item, to Terry K for giving us the highest bid and to Joan B for the highest bid for the Les Barker love songs.

Hope no-one was too disapponted with the mystery prizes;-) and hope Chris Roach eventualy joins the Mudcat to be thanked for his sense of humour in receiving the last prize of all - the co-op carrier bag (aka the melodeon case!)

It would be nice to hear from anyone who won one of the mystery prizes to see if they enjoyed it anyway!

LOL and Cheers

Dave, a BIG thank you to you, Dave Two, and Caitrin for a wonderful weekend, some of the highlights included Geoff the Ducks rendition of " Duelling Banjos" as a solo, on Banjo and Kazoo... Joan of Wigans charming songs, especially her accompaning Noreen in her rendition of the Daisies song,The frenitic playing of FOG, and all those CRS moments, I think almost everyone, me included forgot the words at least once.. and the general feeling of hilarity, and meeting some new and old friends, too many to mention individually, ..It took until 11.20 to get home but it was worth every bump on the motorway..I llok forward to seeing you all again and look forward to Llanstock III

Forget words we might - but what style, what finesse, what a brilliant standard of musicians and singers!

Who to thank here? Everyone I think, 'cos each person who turned up added their own unique contribution.

I didn't want it to end *sigh*

A toast to the next one!

Cheers, Catrin

P.S. I didn't forget any words -'cos i cheat - and have them in a book for justin (justin case). Nurny nurny nurny

Nope (unless s/he was incognito...) but then, being that famous, we would all have recognised him or her or whatever.....

Thanks for reminding me, Micca. One of the highlights for me, was being able to sing Joan's composition for the first time, with her accompanying me on guitar. The song is called 'Memories of Tonight' and had been haunting me since I first heard it on tape a couple of weeks before- I've still not heard the rest of the tape because I keep winding it back to play that song again!! It struck a chord with me *HA!* as being relevant to my 'picking daisies' thread, hence Micca calling it the Daisies song...

Apparently Joan had not sung the song herself for a good while, and was pleased to be reminded of it. Wonderful! Thanks again, Joan.

Hi Dave the Gnome!! I am one of The Johnson Girls and am currently seeking Chris Roach's email. He gave it to me in Wadebridge but alas I cannot seem to decipher it correctly. Any help? Thanks - Joy joybennett@att.net

Yes, another classic - massive thanks for the organising work and lots of love to all who were there. I missed the final Sunday session (for various last-minute reasons it seemed like a good idea to get on the road) so was unable to say proper goodbyes but I know you'll take them as read.

I found myself listening in awe, thinking "I've got friends who can produce music like this". But again, the warmth of the atmosphere was just something else. Dave W summed it up when he said he wished he had a bottle to open up and just capture some of the atmosphere to keep for later use.

Roll on the next gathering - is it going to be Yorkshire?

Love to all, Terry

Well I'm glad if some people can now "hear" my posts as I send them. As at the gathering, I discovered that at least one person had thought I was male, and several others thought I was Sandra Kerr (I wish...!).

Thanks again for a great day and I'll hopefully see some or all of you again soon.

Was Chorlton & the Wheelies the one with the Happiness Dragon? He was my favourite cartoon character ever - just the name makes me smile.

What a wonderful day on Saturday, I'm only sorry I couldn't catch more of the weekend. It was lovely to put faces to names and to take part in some great music-making. I was especially pleased when Noreen sang my song 'Memories of Tonight', Noreen you sang it really well and did me proud! So often I give my songs out to people who ask for them, and then I never get to know what they actually do with them. I know this one's in safe hands!

So many happy memories of great music and lovely people, I can't wait for the next gathering.

Joan

My origional thank you was mistakenly posted to the old thread. So THANK YOU to Catrin for the idea and start up and to the two Daves whose efforts enhanced an already wonderful atmosphere.

The idea to incorporate a Mudcat Gathering around the One Day Swinton Festival in OCT 2001 deserves exploration as everyone could benefit.

Catrin and Noreen talked about the Jolly Angler (Ducie Street Mondays) so I went there last night - VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Next Monday will sample the delights of the White Lion in its natural habitat.

Hope to see/hear you all soon. G.Broon
