Sorry, phoaks, Spaw and I kinda fell down on our duties. Here's the update:

Pat has the flu, but seems to be turning the corner, tonight, according to Karen when I talked with her in hospital. Yes, she is still in there, but things are looking better. They've just been making sure of the levels and that her little cells understand it is okay to stop clotting so much. She thinks she will be able to go home tomorrow, as the levels were up today and things looked good.

Mikey's birthday was good, at the hospital. Connie made paper trees etc, brought picnic baskets and arranged for a private dining room where they had a picnic, after Wayne drove down and got the boys. Spaw was too sick with flu to go, poor thing. Connie even had bugs on wrapping paper or something, can't remember what Karen said, so that Mike would have bugs at his *real* picnic, too!

Karen is ready to go home, feels much much better and misses her cockatiel! She's been talking to her on the phone! She says when Pat calls, she can hear her screeching for her, then when he puts the phone over by her and Karen starts talking, she stares at the phone and pecks at it and sings pretty. Of course, Karen misses the boys and Pat, too! **BG**

That's all I know for now, phoaks, if I hear anything new I'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks!

kat

Thanks, kat. At least she is still kicking hard. Sorry to hear Pat's under the weather again. Poor boys. I have never had the flu, so don't really know what it is like. I did have pnuemonia once, tho, and wouldn't go to hospital because I HAD to go to a funeral across the state. Wish now I had gone to hospital, would have been more restful for this Mom.

'spose 'spaw would recover faster if he thought to put Cleigh through a little sanitizing bath once in a while? probably not. Glad to hear things are getting better even if very gradual. Hang in there guys!

I would love to hear Mikey's version of his birthday party twenty years from now. Hang in there Spaws. It's almost over. Can't have Karen going home to take care of Pat. By now, even the macaroni and cheese is wearing thin.

Oh man! That family has had its share of troubles lately. I Hope thye are coming up on the end of their problems and the start of sunshine and light for a while.

Pat, don't worry about Karen. Just get your rest. Karen, don't worry about Pat, you've got your hands full with your own healing. Boys! Sit quiet and be patient. Your parents are on their way to a full recovery.

Connie and Wayne, bless you for doing what we would do if we all lived there in that community. You are our surrogates as well as Pat and Karen's blessing.

I'll check back in later, but the numbers are up and it looks like today. This is the first time we've seen consistent numbers and the first time above 3. I'll pick up the boys after school and head for the hospital.....Got my fingers crossed.

The flu sucks.

I'll bet it sucks big green weenies, eh? That's what we used to say when I was a kid, in private, tho, we'd never say such in earshot of an adult!

Deep breaths all round and take it slow and easy, darlin's.

The hospital may be wary of sending Karen into a house full of bugs so don't get too upset if they decide to keep her another couple of days. The thing is she WILL be home very soon now. Here's some extra hugs for when she makes it. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Bugs and all, she's HOME!!! I picked her up at 5:00 and after a few stops, pharmacy, etc.....We arrived home to a happy Weimaraner, some ultra lovey cats, and a cockatiel who was really excited! The boys are showing her all the stuff they learned on some videogame.....and if I didn't feel like absolute crap, I'd say "All's right with the world!!!"

Karen will I'm sure be posting her own thank you, but I can only say again how grateful we are for the support of this community. Many, many thanks.

Did the boys keep the place clean, do the laundry and change the paper in the bird cage?
I bet your bird had a few songs to sing you.

Get lots of rest and take care of yourself.

When another 'catter was suffering from incontinence, I sent him a top ten list of good things about incontinence--but I can't think of anything funny to put in a list about flu. Nasty stuff. Although I remember reading somebody's cure for the flu in the Berkeley Barb about thirty years ago: Get into a sleeping bag with your girlfriend and a dozen good doobies, get stoned, make love, sleep; repeat every four hours until cured. Thot oughta do ya, Spaw.

I spoke to Pat, tonight. They are both doing better. Did some running around today, getting Karen's blood work etc. Pat is starting to kick the flu, but still taking it easy, as is Karen. He sounded really good, but tired. They will both get on here in a day or two.

Here's to them both recovering in full and with much rest and ease.

Thanks kat.....I must be feeling better since I just gave duckboots some tips on removing wallpaper.

And you all KNOW I'm pretty sick if I'm not hangin' round this place. Karen's pretty worn out tonight and so am I, but we had a pretty active day for her and we have another tomorrow. Her recovery will be a long process and its frustrating to her to know that she will never be 100% again. We are both anxiously awaiting the return of the additional tests to hopefully locate the source of the clotting problem.

But we're happy to be together and have her home....the boys are much better with Mom back and schedules back in place. They did very well.

And again....Many thanks for the ongoing thoughts and prayers. You're remarkable people....but you knew that, didn't you?

Yeah, we knew that, 'Spaw. But it was you who caused us to initially realize it. For that and for so much else we will forever be in your debt. Karen is a very fortunate woman to have a guy such as you hanging around. On the other hand, you are very fortunate to have Karen - but you knew that already.

My best thoughts and wishes are still floating across the border to you both.
