29 Nov 00 - 06:25 PM (#348549) Subject: RE: BS: Kendalls CD From: Jim Krause Morticia I sent a guy in Scotland a copy of my CD. Told him the price in US$, not knowing how in the world to figure out the exchange rate etc. I just sent him the disc, and lo and behold, a week later, here came the money in crisp US bills. I don't know how he did it. In the enclosed note, he said it was a lot easier than some sort of international checque. A bad way to do business, sending the merchandise and then waiting for payment, I admit. But this time I trusted my instincts. Jim Krause |

20 Dec 00 - 11:26 PM (#360828) Subject: RE: BS: Kendalls CD From: Uncle Jaque Kendall: I'm just full of questions tonight; Is there anyplace in the local (Freeport/Yarmouth) area to obtain your CD? For mail order - where do we send the check? Could you post a list of songs on the CD here? Are you going to be around for the "Chantey Swap" on the 27th? I'll bet if you had a stack of 'em there you might move a few. I also wouldn't be surprised if Cpt. Steve took a few to carry at China Seas - and I bet he'd move 'em for you, too! Re. the cassettes: I'm always open to really good deals on cassettes; my '91 Voyager is equipped with a cassette player and I do love to crank up those tunes, don't ye know! Also, most of my sound equipment tends to be of rather primitive technology, coming from the Yarmouth Dump or yard sales like it does, and we only own one CD player - a portable at that.. I frequently "back up" favorite CDs onto tape (editing out the obligatory clunker tracks) so I can listen to them in the van. |

They ain't cheap, but they do all the work - so it may be worth considering. |

I bet he might move a passel of your CDs, especially when the Summer Complaints get moseyin' around the Ol' Port! A co worker brought in some stories / jokes etc. from her late Grandmother's archives - she lived in Weld ME and was a real piece of work. Looks like some good ol Down East material you could use - I read a couple of em at the old folks home where Mom resides, and they liked em - would love to hear your rendition. We do enjoy "Luck" as did a couple of colleagues, one of whom wants one for her Dad who still resides in Weld. I'm bringing your addr. in today. Still in Fla? |

28 Oct 01 - 10:34 AM (#581347) Subject: RE: BS: Kendalls CD From: JedMarum Kendall is an American classic. He is our own Kendall; Mudcatter, lover of folklore, teller of tales and fine singer of songs ... but he is more then that, in the grand scheme of things. Kendall is a shining example of Yankee humor and folk wisdom. He has captured an important part of Maine culture and passes it on through his recordings. I really do hope all Mudcatters can get a chance to enjoy his recordings ... then you can come back to the Mudcat and get under his skin with your political posts! |
28 Oct 01 - 12:40 PM (#581401) Subject: RE: BS: Kendalls CD From: Big Mick Yeah............per usual I find meself following up with Jed, but his is.....after all...my older brother....(Mick ducks for the corner to hide behind the cabinet so as not to get hit by a flying banjo capo)........I currently have the tape, but I am going to order the CD straightaway. Kendall, save one of those for me. I will get a check out ASAP. Kendall, to me, is a prime example of the Mudcat Miracle. I cannot begin to tell you the growth in my music that comes directly from meeting and learning from folks like Kendall. Incredible source of style and lyric. And one hell of a great person. Kendall, it was my extreme pleasure to have time with you. Get the CD, folks. And make your way to FSGW next year. As fantastic as this one was, we can do it better next year. All the best, Mick |
28 Oct 01 - 02:08 PM (#581451) Subject: RE: BS: Kendalls CD From: SINSULL At the risk of feeding Kendall's ego, I will second Mick's post and third, Jed's. Meeting Kendall and listening to his music and humor has been a high point in my life. Captain Morse is an American treasure. One more reason to thank Max for the Mudcat. |

28 Oct 01 - 06:41 PM (#581580) Subject: RE: BS: Kendalls CD From: kendall Are they really talking about me? You folks are so great.I dont know how to thank you. It was such a treat to meet all of you, and, especially so when I told you about the old lady on the plane and Mick snorted his drink all over his meal! Love it when that happens. I know someone will want to hear it so, a friend of mine was getting off a plane after a very bumpy flight. The pilot landed it on one wheel, and it crashed down hard on the other, coming to a very bumpy landing. There was an old woman just ahead of him, and as she passed the pilot, she looked up and said "Did you land this fucking thing, or, did we get shot down"? |
28 Oct 01 - 11:48 PM (#581707) Subject: RE: BS: Kendalls CD From: Big Mick That is no exaggeration. 08 Jan 06 - 09:11 PM (#1644599) Subject: RE: Kendalls CD - Beginners Luck From: Fortunato Kendall, I was going up to the flea market to sell a couple of keepsakes so that I could buy another copy of your cd. You see my copy of Begineers luck got all sticky. I can explain that, however, but you might not want to hear the details. In any case the plan was to get some extra cash so that I could order some more copies of your cd. Unfortunately we were delayed when the sheriff stopped by to say he'd had to arrest mother down at the bass pro shop. He told us her story was she'd eaten a corn dog before going in to purchase night crawlers for tomorrow night's float fishing trip and she got the real bad farts. Well the clerk behind the bait counter thought she'd stole a couple of pints of fox urine which they had on special for 1.99 that week. I don't know why they locked her up, she didn't even have any pockets in that night gown she was wearing when she left. The sheriff said that she might have got off with a warning but she'd not even taken the Marlboro out of her mouth when she told the judge to French kiss her ass. To make a long story short, I don't have the cash to replace your excellent cd. But if you could front me the cash, I'm good for it. cheers, chance |
